Day Two in Tahiti

I decided it was time to get in the water.I really wanted to dive but there are lingering effects from my pneumonia and the torn muscle in my chest. I was feeling very good, cough almost gone, on minimal meds, thought I might try diving. Instead, I decided to go snorkeling as a test.

it was a very disappointing experience. The massive coral gardens surround the island. The site I was taken to was a coral graveyard. Algae growing on the dead remains, very few fish. I didn’t see a parrot fish. They feed off live coral, crushing the delicate formations and creating the sand we all love. No parrot fish because there is nothing to eat. The seas were very turbid, with poor visibility. It rained when I was out. Strange experience to be rained on when swimming.

The storm that rained on me.

The dive boat and a few pictures of coral.

The coral garden was about 300 meters from the boat anchor buoy. It was a long swim against a moderate current. I realized I’m not as fully cured as I thought I was. The dive master wanted to swim to show me a wreck in the bay. My chest started to hurt and I just wanted to get out of the water.

We went back to the hotel and we spent the rest of the day by the pool.

Seems Barb thinks her toes are prettier.

We had dinner at the roulettes and got to bed early.
