Ana is a coral atoll 377 KM East of Tahiti. It is a series of 11 small coral islands known as motu bordering a 90 km2 lagoon. They receive three supply ships a month and one flight a week from Tahiti. We spent a day on one of the motus, mostly on the long sand beach. Don\u2019t let the photos fool you. If you want a superior sand beach head to any of the Lake Winnipeg beaches. The sand is mostly crushed coral which can be sharp to walk on. The water had a layer of silt that made it difficult to walk. Water shoes are a must because of the dangers in the water such as sea urchins and stone fish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We toured the motu. There are some lovely scenes. We had lunch on the beach, then back on the ship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We tried snorkeling at Ana. Unfortunately, it\u2019s not a prime snorkeling location.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We met Tim Johnson, a travel writer from the Globe and Mail and had a great afternoon by the pool swapping travel stories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
